Electrical Building Services Design
At Rosper MEP, we deliver robust, coordinated electrical building services design that supports safe operation, energy efficiency and long‑term performance.
Our electrical designs are developed in accordance with UK Building Regulations, relevant British Standards and industry best practice, with a strong emphasis on practicality, compliance and integration with the wider building services strategy.
We work closely with clients, architects, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure electrical systems are clearly defined, coordinated and fully aligned with the operational requirements of each building.
End‑to‑End Electrical Engineering Support
From early feasibility and concept design through to detailed technical design and construction support, Rosper MEP provides clear, well‑engineered electrical building services solutions that are practical, compliant and deliverable.
Our Design Services
Low Voltage Power Distribution
Design of safe, resilient and energy‑efficient LV electrical systems in accordance with Building Regulations Part L and relevant CIBSE guidance. Services include assessment and sizing of utility supplies to suit both peak demand and realistic operational profiles, coordinated LV distribution design with appropriate discrimination and resilience, and compliant cable and equipment sizing based on load characteristics and diversity.
Distribution board architectures and metering strategies are developed to support effective energy monitoring, benchmarking and management in line with Part L requirements and CIBSE TM39, while load modelling and demand assumptions are informed by TM54 operational energy principles to minimise performance gaps between design intent and in‑use energy consumption.
Communications & Data Distribution
Design of compliant, resilient and scalable structured cabling and ICT infrastructure, supporting voice, data and IP-based building systems, with coordinated pathways, containment and allowances for future expansion.
Lighting & Emergency Lighting
Design of high‑quality general, task and architectural lighting schemes that balance visual comfort, functionality and energy efficiency in line with Building Regulations Part L and relevant CIBSE lighting guidance. Compliant emergency lighting systems are designed in accordance with BS 5266 and associated standards to support means of escape, life safety and continued occupation where required. External lighting design is developed to provide safe, legible and well‑integrated external environments, including façade, landscape, access and amenity lighting. Schemes consider pedestrian and vehicular safety, security, visual comfort and environmental impact, with designs aligned to relevant guidance such as BS 5489 and ILP recommendations, while addressing planning requirements, obtrusive light control and long‑term maintenance.
Fire Alarm, Disabled Refuge & Emergency Voice Communication Systems
Design of fully compliant, coordinated life safety systems in accordance with BS 5839 to support safe evacuation, assisted escape and effective emergency management. This includes fire detection and alarm systems to BS 5839‑1, along with disabled refuge and emergency voice communication systems to BS 5839‑9, all developed in line with the building fire strategy, occupancy needs and operational requirements. Designs prioritise clarity, reliability, resilience and ease of ongoing management, ensuring robust life safety performance throughout the life of the building.
Small Power & Specialist
Design small power systems including provision to support fixed equipment, building services plant and specialist loads all developed to suit the operational needs of the building. Designs consider load assessment, circuit allocation, containment coordination, resilience, maintenance access and compliance with relevant standards while allowing flexibility for change and future adaptation.
External & Site Electrical Services
Design of external electrical infrastructure. This includes external and amenity lighting, power supplies, distribution networks and associated infrastructure, developed to suit site layout, building use and operational requirements. Designs address safety, durability and compliance with planning, environmental and statutory requirements, while considering external environmental conditions.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
All electrical designs are:
- Developed to current UK regulations and applicable British Standards
- Coordinated with mechanical and public health systems
- Subject to rigorous internal QA review prior to issue
Our approach ensures clarity for contractors, confidence for clients and systems that perform as intended throughout their lifecycle.
Coordinated & Buildable Solutions
Electrical designs are developed with a clear understanding of installation constraints, commissioning requirements and future operation. Our team places strong emphasis on coordinated routing, plant connectivity and system interfaces to minimise risk during construction and operation.
We deliver projects through BIM‑led design processes, ensuring models and drawings are fully coordinated with mechanical, public health and architectural elements.
